Brother Stanley Ford was presented his retirement watch at the June 2010 meeting. Stanley has been a member of the IBEW for 37 years. His many contributions to our local include serving as an Executive Board member and fulfilling the duties of Recording Secretary. Stanley received the IBEW Life Saving Award in 1998 for pulling an accident victim from a burning truck. We all wish Stanley the very best.
Brother Terry Sterling received his retirement watch at the May, 2010 meeting. Terry has been an IBEW member for 34 years. Terry was the Apprentice of the Year in 1978 and won the John Jenner Award as the Outstanding Apprentice for the entire 7th District. Terry served our Local in many capacities. These include Apprentice Instructor, Executive Board member, Examininig Board member, Scholarship Committee, and Steward. We all wish Terry a long and happy retirement.
Brother Jerry Rubenich was presented with his retirement watch at the April, 2010 meeting. Jerry has been a member of the IBEW for 35 years. Jerry worked the last 27 years of his career for A&H Electric. We all wish Jerry the very best.

The IBEW 271 Boeing Unit negotiation team prepares for contact negotiations. Contract negotiations between the Unit and Boeing Management will take place this November.
New members Bryan Wallace and Jake Beyer joined about 80 other IBEW 271 Journeyman for the CEU class "Significant Changes to the 2008 NEC". The free six hour class was held Saturday, November 14 and was taught by full time JATC instructor Darryl Hill

There was plenty of great food for all at the 2009 IBEW picnic held September 26 at Eberly Farms. Choices included grilled chicken, brisket, foot long hot dogs, and all the trimmings. Be sure to save room for dessert!

James Walling receives his 2009 IBEW LU 271 Scholarship Award from Assistant Business Agent Roger King at the September meeting. James, the son of member David Walling, will be attending Cowley College.

Brother Dale Nice was presented his retirement watch at the July, 2009 meeting. Dale has been an IBEW member for 42 years. Dale worked for Shelley Electric the past 28 years. We all wish Dale the very best.
Graduating Apprenticeship Class of 2009 IBEW 271 and it's Signatory Contractors have 26 new highly trained Journeyman. The apprenticeship class of 2009 participated in graduation ceremonies on June 27 at the Rolling Hills Country Club. Six of the graduates received perfect attendance awards and Chris Novak was recognized as the Apprentice of the Year based on class room scores and work reports. Congratulations to all!

The IBEW Annnual Picnic was held on Saturday, September 20, 2008 at Eberly Farms. Over 600 members and their families participated and enjoyed the wonderful weather and great food.

Graduating Class of 2008 IBEW 271 has 24 new highly trained Journeyman. The apprenticeship class of 2008 participated in graduation ceremonies on July 26 at the Rolling Hills Country Club. The class average was 91.8% and five students received perfect attendance awards. Congratulations to all!
